2021 Audi A7 Gets a More Powerful 362-HP Plug-In-Hybrid Version

2021 Audi A7

  • The 2021 Audi A7 55 TFSI e is the plug-in-hybrid version of the A7, being offered for the first time.
  • The plug-in A7 is equipped with a 14.1-kWh battery paired with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder for a combined 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.
  • The plug-in A7 will go on sale this fall, priced starting at $75,895.

2021 Audi A7 – Engine

Audi revealed early last year that it was going to add a plug-in-hybrid option to several of its vehicles in the U.S. including the Q5 and A8. But it had kept us waiting on the 2021 Audi A7. The German automaker has now divulged that the plug-in-hybrid A7 will be a 2021 model in the U.S.; and it’ll qualify for federal tax subsidies.

The A7 55 TFSI e churns out 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque from its electric motor and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which is 27 horsepower more and the same amount of torque compared to the V-6–powered regular A7. The hybrid’s powertrain is paired with Quattro all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The hybrid system in the A7 gives drivers the ability to decide where power is derived from and how much comes from either the engine or the battery. Hybrid mode is activated automatically when route guidance is in use. And based on the given route, the vehicle will optimize battery and engine use to increase efficiency. In EV mode, as long as the driver doesn’t accelerate too quickly, the battery powers the car exclusively; in Battery Hold mode, only the engine is used.

EPA hasn’t yet provided estimates on the efficiency and range of the A7, but the A8 plug-in hybrid, which also has a 14.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack but also a more powerful internal-combustion engine, has an EPA-estimated 17 miles of electric-only range and 54 MPGe. The A7 comes equipped with a standard SAE J1772 connector; charging figures are yet to be released.

2021 Audi A7 – Furniture

The plug-in-hybrid A7 comes standard with an S line exterior; which includes a sportier front fascia, a leather interior, and four-zone automatic air conditioning. The hybrid can be had in either Premium Plus or Prestige trim levels. But not the base Premium version of the standard A7, which means that its starting price is $5700 higher than the nonhybrid option.

The A7 55 TFSI e in Premium Plus trim starts at $75,895, or just over $500 more than the nonhybrid A7. The Prestige trim, starting at $81,245, is just under $2000 more than its internal-combustion counterpart. When the federal tax credit of up to $6712 is taken into account, the plug-in A7 becomes cheaper. The A7 55 TFSI e is set to go on sale in the U.S. this fall.

American Auto Dealers Stimulated “Shock” To Survive The Covid-19 Epidemic

As the COVID-19 outbreak was showing signs of outbreaks in the United States. Procurement of supplies increased and other spending decreased. Like buying a car, bed jobs are few and likely not happening. Because users have a big problem that’s financially in this pandemic season. Especially when they lose income for a while and need to adjust their budget.

Therefore, forecasting that the US auto market sales in 2020 will be lower than in 2019. Some experts believe that the reduction rate can be very large.

This is a difficult time for the global economy in general and the whole US in particular. But now might be a good time to buy a car. Let’s see “shocked” quite “shocked” of the US car market at this time.

There are great deals

Several Chevrolet car dealerships in the US have just launched a series of attractive incentives to attract car buyers. This is the need for car dealers in the present time.

American Car Dealers

However, the “shock” incentive is not released indiscriminately, buyers need good credit ratings.

Detroit automakers represented by the “power” trio of General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler often proved to have breakthrough innovations to stimulate demand.

This has led to many influences to other car companies that have so few shocking promotions. Especially under the pressure of the current shopping crisis.

The latest is that Nissan has started offering a Rogue Sport 2019 model lease for as low as $209 a month or can be funded at 0% interest for 60 months. And customers can get a refund face up to 4,000 USD.

Besides the preferential deals “unbelievable” as above. The US car market at this time still has many favorable offers from other car manufacturers.

Increase deferred payment incentives

Currently, the supply of cars in the US is decreasing due to the impact of the disease. But, the large number of reserved vehicles, the vehicle industry is still surviving the season.

Because of the large supply of cars, the active dealers are offering strong incentives to pull buyers such as low financial interest rates or deferred payment payments within 6 months.

Many carmakers are also willing to offer deferred payments. Ford has just announced the “Build to Lend a Hand” program. In which the Ford Credit finance department pays the first 90 days of payment and then suspends the next 3 months to 6 months for all models available in 2019. and 2020, except for the Super Duty model.

FCA, Hyundai, Genesis, and Nissan are also involved in providing deferred payment payments to new car buyers.

Spectacular Usurpation Of The US Luxury Car Market

It took BMW 4 years to regain the No. 1 position in the luxury car market in the US from its brother – Mercedes-Benz.

The automobile market in recent years has encountered a lot of certain difficulties. But it seems BMW has a pretty good preparation for this “storm”. And of course, BMW has “surpassed” its brother to occupy the leading position in the luxury car segment in the US. Let’s find out what led to that change.

Specifically, according to Bloomberg news, BMW’s 2019 sales reached 324,826 vehicles. Similarly, an increase of 4.4% compared to 311,014 vehicles of 2018. Thanks to SUV models such as the new X3, X5, and X7. In addition, the G20 Series 3 Series has also become the best-selling sedan since its launch on the US market in February last year.

Above all, “For the past two years we have been talking about having a product portfolio that fits the needs of the market. And we believe that with every new car model recently launched. We have achieved that, ”said BMW North America president and CEO Bernhard Kuhnt. He thinks that BMW has the youngest and most interesting product portfolio in the segment.

For Mercedes Benz , sales results in 2019 were not very satisfactory, with 316,094 units, an increase of only 135 units compared to 315,959 units of 2018. Although the company has launched the first A-Class and GLB models in the US market. , with “heavy” models like the new GLE and GLS.

After that, Lexus continued to rank third with sales of 298,114 vehicles in 2019, down 0.1% from 298,310 in 2018. Audi came next, with 224,111 units sold, an increase of only 0.4%. Followed by Acura (157,385 vehicles) and Cadillac (156,246 vehicles).

The 10 Cheapest Cars on Sale in the U.S. Right Now

This bargain new-car shopping list might not be exciting, but it’ll save you a lot of money. We get the question almost nonstop: What are the cheapest cars on sale right now?

Automakers don’t like to offer subcompacts this cheap because there is no virtually no profit margin on them, but there are still dirt-cheap wheels to be had. This list of the cheapest cars on sale includes just the cheapest version of the lowest-priced models by manufacturer’s list price. If a particular model is offered as, say, both a sedan and a hatchback, only the lower-priced body style is listed. Expect a sticker price roughly $1,500-$2,000 higher for the next trim level up, which you are more likely to find at your local dealership. Remember, though: If you can’t find what you’re looking for on your local dealers’ lots, an internet search might locate one in a neighboring state.

đNote: Automakers typically do not issue photos of their base trim levels; the photos shown depict cars that have bigger wheels and more brightwork than the base models described.

1. 2020 Chevrolet Spark LS, $14,395

2020 Chevrolet Spark LS
EPA Mileage: 29/38 mpg (city/hwy)

The North American version of the Daewoo Matiz, sold around the globe under myriad brand and model names, is one of the most fun-to-drive mini cars on the market.

As an aside, though it’s not one of the cheapest cars, Chevrolet also offered the Spark electric vehicle from 2013-16 as a stop-gap car before launching the Bolt EV, but more recently and in deference to U.S. market reality, it added the ACTIV faux-crossover after launching the latest Spark for the 2016 model year. The Chevy Spark ACTIV’s “rugged look” consists of a raised suspension, black trim and cladding, front foglamps, and a roof rack, for a more expensive base price of $18,495.  Seriously, it’s not as bad as it sounds, and it’s still $2,745 cheaper than the similarly unconvincing (though taller) Ford EcoSport. With the price $14,395, 2020 Chevrolet Spark LS is now one of the cheapest car on sale in US.

2. 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage ES ($14,990)

2020 Mitsubishi Mirage ES
EPA Mileage: 33/41 mpg (city/hwy)

This is the cheapest cars poster child for the old shibboleth, “You get what you pay for,” though you also get the most fuel-efficient non-electrified gasoline-powered car sold in the U.S.

A few years ago, I rented one for a short weekend in Milwaukee, and can report the EPA fuel mileage estimates are solid. In fact, I exceeded the highway number by an mpg or two after driving about 80 miles around town. Being a rental, it was a CVT-equipped Mitsubishi Mirage, rated 36/43 mpg to the five-speed manual’s 33/41, and that option piles another $1,300 onto the sticker. If you prefer the Mirage G4 sedan, it will cost you another 1 mpg city and highway while adding $1,000 to the sticker. Mitsubishi made automatic climate control standard across all trim levels for the 2020 model year.

3. 2020 Nissan Versa S ($15,655)

10 cheapest car
EPA Mileage: 27/35 mpg (city/hwy)

This affordable subcompact entered the U.S. market as one of the cheapest cars available—and as a gawky, underachieving hatchback for 2006. But with last year’s all-new 2019 model, it has some decent attributes, including a more finished design that looks like it’s from the same family as the Nissan Sentra and Altima.

Now only a sedan for the U.S. market, the Nissan Versa S comes with such standard features as automatic climate control, remote start, blind-spot warning, cross-traffic alert, and Apple Car Play/Android for Auto—but that’s only if you drop $19,215 on the top-trim Versa SR with CVT transmission. The base manual Versa S does come with lane-departure warning, rear auto braking, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. It’s a good commuter car for people who just want to get to and from work, though it’s not one of those slow cars that’s more fun to drive fast than a fast car is to drive slow.

4. 2020 Hyundai Accent SE ($16,270)

10 cheapest car
EPA Mileage:29/39 mpg (city/hwy)

Hyundai is known for loading up its could-be cheapest cars and SUVs with standard features and interior appointments that would do a semi-premium brand proud. Such is the case with the subcompact 2020 Hyundai Accent-if you want to spend $20,375 on the Limited model. Still, that’s rather affordable for a lot of shoppers.

Still, the Hyundai Accent SE is nicely equipped for its price, and as the lowest of three trim levels in the Accent line, it is only available with a manual transmission.

An update for the 2020 model year is the Accent’s new multi-port fuel-injected 1.6-liter four, replacing the old gasoline direct-injection 1.6-liter four. Fuel mileage for six-speed manual equipped cars has increased 1 mpg city and 2 mpg highway, to 29 and 39, respectively.

Standard features include a 5-inch audio touchscreen display, rear-view monitor, six-way manual driver’s seat adjustment, and keyless entry. In terms of value, reliability, and quality, the fourth-cheapest car on sale in the U.S. stands as a top choice.

5. 2020 Toyota Yaris L Sedan ($16,605)

10 cheapest car
EPA Mileage: 30/39 mpg (city/hwy)

Miss the old 2011 Mazda2? We do, too, though it lives on as one of U.S. market’s cheapest cars in the form of the Toyota Yaris. First, Toyota imported it here from Mazda’s Mexican factory as a sedan only. But last year, the Mazda2 was badge-engineered into a Yaris hatchback design as well, which is why we are not counting each on our list of cheapest cars.

The hatchback wouldn’t have made it, anyway; it starts at $18,705, which is $250 more than the No. 10 cheapster, the Kia Soul. The Yaris hatch inexplicably comes only with an automatic transmission, while the sedan is available with a manual.

6. 2020 Kia Rio LX ($16,815)

10 cheapest car
EPA Mileage: 33/41 mpg (city/hwy)

Like the Hyundai Accent, the updated 2020 Kia Rio replaces the old “Gamma” gasoline direct-injection 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a new multi-port direct-injection 1.6. But this car comes with an “iVT,” or intelligent-continuously variable transmission instead of its corporate relative’s standard six-speed manual. With the iVT, the Rio LX’s fuel mileage increases by 5-mpg city and 4-mpg highway—33 and 41, respectively—compared to last year’s model, which came with a conventional six-speed automatic transmission. There’s also a new 7-inch touchscreen supporting Apple Car Play and Android Auto standard on the 2020 Kia Rio.

7. 2020 Honda Fit LX ($17,120)

2020 Honda Fit LX
EPA Mileage: 29/36 mpg (city/hwy)

For cheapest cars, forget BMW’s Mini line since 2001; Honda’s Fit is the true successor to Alec Issigonis’ original small-on-the-outside, big-on-the-inside hatchback. Throw in a decent fun-to-drive factor—especially with Honda’s fun-to-use six-speed manual transmission, and its high-revving (6,800 rpm redline!) naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine—and you have one of the cheapest cars actually worthy of ownership aspirations.

8. 2019 Fiat 500 Pop ($17,990)

2019 Fiat 500 Pop
EPA Mileage: 28/33 mpg (city/hwy)

Yes, the Fiat 500 has been discontinued in the U.S. and Canada, meaning there are no 2020 models. No, this isn’t really cheating. Because the point of this list is to point you to the cheapest cars available now in the U.S. If you’ve read this far, you’re looking for lowest price, not latest design.

Fiat stopped building the 500 in North America because the cute little thing wasn’t selling, which means it might be worth considering if you’re trying to avoid the bus or the subway. True, non-Abarth versions of the Fiat 500 have never been compelling cars to drive, and as the only two-door on this list, its rear-seat utility is limited. Additionally, as the only turbocharged car on this list, it takes premium gasoline. So, note that the five-speed manual transmission betters the six-speed automatic on the EPA mileage cycle, by 4-mpg city (28 mpg) and 1-mpg highway (33 mpg).

9. 2020 Hyundai Venue SE, $18,490

2020 Hyundai Venue SE
EPA Mileage: 27/35 mpg (city/hwy)

The all-new Hyundai Venue is a tallish, front-wheel-drive-only “SUV,” or at least that’s what Hyundai calls it. More like tall hatchback, and that’s something Hyundai should embrace. The Venue is also Hyundai’s answer to the upward-creeping price of so many cars and SUVs—and because it’s just about the latest entry-level sub-$20,000 model on the market, it comes standard with an Apple CarPlay/Android Auto 8.0-inch touchscreen and SmartSense with forward-collision warning. That’s all on the SE model, which is the only trim level available with a six-speed manual.

After our first Venue test drive in Miami last January, we called it “a boxful of modern minimalism.” Add a “my other car is an e-bike” license plate frame, and take along look at this entry on the list of cheapest cars for sale in the U.S.

10. 2020 Kia Soul LX, $18,610

2020 Kia Soul LX
EPA Mileage: 25/31 mpg (city/hwy)

Thanks to a cheeky marketing campaign and its funky styling. The Kia Soul has been a rare example of a cheap, easily affordable econobox that has sold very well over the years, often one of the brand’s bestsellers.

The Kia Soul rides on a new platform for 2020, and higher-trim models offer such luxuries as a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and a head-up display. There’s a Soul GT Line and a Soul X-Line, but you want the Soul LX if you want to save money.

Top 5 Supercars: Best Supercars 2020 You Should Look Once In Your Life

This is TOP 5 supercars 2020 you should look once in your life. Our Top 5 supercars blends a mix of exotic metal stand out performance with stunning dynamics. But in an intensely competitive market who takes top spot?

The definition of a supercar may have changed over the past two decades. But that fact hardly makes the metal content that makes up this class any less sensational.

Here, it’s the world’s greatest mid-engined, upper-level performance machines we’re celebrating: not the very highest echelon of the performance car market, but rather the kind of cars you think about when you picture a modern Ferrari, McLaren or Lamborghini.

1. The First Of Top 5 Supercars – McLaren 720S

McLaren 720S

Leading the Top 5 Supercars list is the McLaren 720S. The McLaren 720S has succeeded where both of its predecessors (650S and MP4-12C) fell short in our supercar class chart: purely and simply, by topping it.

There are few more direct or effective ways for cars in this stratum of the performance car market to demonstrate their superiority than by accelerating faster, lapping quicker and stopping harder than any rival: the 720S does all three. In many of the performance benchmarks road testers are used to measuring, in fact, this 710bhp blockbuster is a closer match for a contemporary hypercar than one of its mid-engined opponents.

2. Ferrari F8 Tributo

Ferrari will tell you its new F8 Tributo is a replacement for the excellent 488 GTB. But in reality it’s more of a heavy facelift. That said, it’s a facelift that makes use of plenty of reworked engineering know-how from the stunning track-focussed 488 Pista and the 488 Challenge race car. So we can probably cut Ferrari some slack in this respect.

TOP 5 supercars Ferrari F8 Tributo

Anyway, its twin-turbocharged V8 now develops 710bhp and 568lb ft, and surprise surprise, it’s as devastatingly fast as ever. It might still lack some of the aural drama of the 458’s old naturally aspirated V8. But the introduction of a new Hot Tube Resonator helps pipe a dash more noise into the cabin. Variable Boost Management ramps up torque gradually, too. So it not only feels more like a non-turbo engine, but cuts turbo-lag to almost non-existent levels, too.

3. Lamborghini Huracán Evo

Lamborghini Huracán Evo

Only the makers of the world’s rarest and most expensive, handbuilt automotive exotics can now really compete with Lamborghini. When it comes to creating cars of pure combustive drama, traffic-stopping looks and feral, unfettered soul. The Huracan may be the firm’s entry-level model. But it’s no second-order offering when it comes to its sensational styling or its fantastically wild, naturally aspirated V10 engine. A motor that over-delivers in equal measure on speed, responsiveness and audible character.

The face-lifted Evo version gets rear-wheel steering and torque-vectoring. And the results raise the Huracan’s game closer to that of the McLaren and Ferrari. That you also get the 631bhp powetrain from the old, hardcore Performante seals this junior Lamborghini’s reputation as a seriously rewarding, engaging supercar.

4. Ford GT

The myth and mystique of the Ford GT. Stretching back more than five decades to the GT40’s string of successive victories at Le Mans, would have given this car a larger-than-life presence in any class in which we put it. And lends it an appeal that’s utterly unique and difficult to quantify.

TOP 5 supercars Ford GT

Originally resurrected in 2005, this ‘third coming’ of Ford’s motoring legend is a cleverly conceived road-going version of The Blue Oval’s FIA WEC endurance racer. Available in left-hand-drive only, it has a chassis and suspension more exotic than almost any rival. And an engine adapted from than of an F150 pick-up truck.

Though it’s size is foreboding, the GT has an unbelievably smooth-ride. And is refined and easy-to-place on the road for a car of its ilk. And although it doesn’t howl like an Italian V12, the car’s 647bhp V6 can still hurl you down the road with undiluted motorsport venom. A very special car, this the likes of which don’t come along often.

5. The Last Of Top 5 Supercars – Lamborghini Aventador SVJ

TOP 5 supercars Lamborghini Aventador SVJ

To end the Top 5 Supercars list, we will come to a super product, which is the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. A drive in Sant’Agata’s twelve 12-cylinder, mid-engined series-production flagship supercar is not something you’ll forget. The Aventador’s line goes all the way back through Murcielago, Diablo and Countach to the legendary Miura. And it’s a car with the stunning looks and full-blooded naked aggression to hold its own. Even in comparison with its ancestors.

It burst onto the scene with almost 700 atmospheric horsepower and Machievellian four-wheel drive five years ago. And was updated to ‘S’ specification in 2017 to include four-wheel steering and even more grunt. Now we have the heroic SVJ, which takes an already unmissable car. And turns it into the world’s greatest attention-magnet, thanks to an astonishing bodykit.

The engine – which in the SVJ 759bhp at 8500rpm – is stupendous. Even if its paddleshift transmission isn’t always worthy of it. It does feel hugely wide on the road, and is still a sledgehammer of an instrument on the track. Although it’s developed greater handling delicacy and balance in later life. As for drama? Off the scale.

The cars will be based on a new Monocell II architecture that has been designed for a hybrid powertrain from the outset. A more refined twin-turbo V8 is likely to be the main power source, however.

On the styling front, the new sports series model will let go of the McLaren brand logo shaped headlights for new hollow outlets that we have seen in the new Super Series car. Expect a reveal at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. This is a New Supercar Launched 2020.

The Ford Bronco is back: Ford reveals 2021 Bronco SUV & Sport

Good news for terrain lovers and enthusiasts. This car is symbolic of America, and it returned after 24 years of absence.

Ford paid heavily to invite a country music singer and two climbers to talk about the Bronco. They talked about a series of related stories that took 3 minutes to launch a new car that is a legendary symbol of the United States.

Ford shared that they will plan to challenge Jeep with Bronco especially in the off-road market. CEO of Berylls Strategy Advisors, an auto consultant at Royal Oak, said. “But the symbol is back with a vengeance. Ford means business. This is the shot in the hands that consumers and dealers want and need.”

The Bronco, built from 1966 to 1996, developed a cult following and now commands high prices from collectors. It was discontinued in the wake of the accused murderer O.J. Simpson’s attempt to elude police in a white Bronco on national TV in 1994.

Consumers will see the small Bronco Sport SUV in showrooms by the end of 2020. The two-door and four-door Bronco version will be released in the spring of 2021.

“We started this project several years ago,” said Winston Landin, Ford global director of consumer insights. “The foundational principle, in the beginning, was really the fact that the Bronco had already been a brand and there’s a strong heritage around the Bronco. That’s important because the vehicle would need to deliver what’s true for the Bronco – capability, durability,  and of course the design. There’s a lot of emotional connection that people had with this specific brand.”

The Bronco Sport Price

The launch of Bronco and Bronco Sport comes at a critical time for Ford. Ford executives have predicted very profitable profits in a market segment that has room for growth.

The Ford Bronco will be built at the automaker’s assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan. The Bronco Sport will be built at the Hermosillo plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

Ford has reported it expects to lose about $ 5 billion in the second quarter, so this product is considered a premium and essential product in the company’s portfolio.

The price for the two-door 2021 Bronco begins at $29,995 for the base model, including destination fees. The four-door base model begins at $34,695 including fees.

In their process of remaking the SUV for the 21st Century, Ford designers spent thousands of hours in the field.

“We have done a lot of observation,” Landin said. “For example, we spent time with customers for a whole weekend. We would start on a Friday and go snowboarding, go on off-road adventures, hiking,  and bike trails, and camping.”

With this return, Ford removed the keys for the car because the key was identified as their “pain point”.

Ford observers have noticed that all mirrors in the car are removable and need to be relocated so drivers don’t go without mirrors or have to buy aftermarket parts. So that element has been redesigned.

The problem of the removable door also presents a challenge. People are concerned about leaving the door at home on trips and feeling vulnerable. So Ford sought to store the doors in the car.

This was the second major reveal from Ford within three weeks. The company revealed the redesigned Ford F-150 pickup on June 25.

The company initially announced the Bronco reveal for July 9, which fell on the birthday of Simpson, perhaps the most famous Bronco passenger of all time.

Car buying tips amid COVID-19: Used Cars, Trucks, SUVs

Can get a good deal on a loan?

Although credit conditions have deteriorated for some buyers due to the hobbled economy, if you could afford a new vehicle before, you can probably still get a loan.

And interest rates have plummeted in recent months, hitting an average of 4.2% in June, down from 6% a year earlier, according to car-research site Edmunds.

Also, 0% financing offers are at “near-record levels,” representing 24% of sales in May and 19.4% in June, according to Edmunds.

Can get a good deal on a loan?

But Edmunds cautioned buyers to think hard before spreading out new-car payments over several years.

At 0% financing, a six- or seven-year loan could make sense for a responsible buyer, but for many Americans, relying on longer loan terms to justify their bigger vehicle purchases could put them at greater risk for negative equity in the future.

During the pandemic, used-car prices have been affected by several factors, including an influx of vehicles sold by car-rental firm Hertz, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Over the last 90 days, used-car prices have fallen by 1.7%, according to car-buying site CarGurus. But over the last 30 days, prices have increased by  0.8%.

For example, the 2018 BMW 3-series has dropped 28% since a year ago, but the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro has dropped only 3.7%, according to CarGurus. The 2018 Ford Mustang has fallen 10.2%, while the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette has declined only 6.6%.

Those shoppers in the market for a used vehicle should be mindful that used vehicle prices are starting to increase as compared to the beginning of the year because dealers are trying to replenish supply for popular used vehicles.

Where are new-car deals popping up?

Are automakers increasing discounts?

Honda, which typically spurns incentives, increased discounts by 43.8% in June, compared with a year earlier, according to TrueCar. Volkswagen Group, which includes VW, Audi,  and Porsche, has ramped up incentives by 27.8%. And Daimler, which makes Mercedes-Benz, has increased them by 24.9%.

Instead, they are being used as part of a broader strategy and targeted for specific weak spots.”For example, during the first weekend of July, Audi discounted the A3 sedan by 11.7%, Chevrolet discounted the Malibu sedan by 13.9% and Ram discounted the Ram 1500 pickup by 10.9%.

Are automakers increasing discounts?

Sometimes automakers sell vehicles at a high sticker price but provide discounts, often referred to as incentives, to make the effective price much lower.

For now, discounts are up year over year, but down compared with earlier in the pandemic,  as dealers look to preserve profits. Incentives per vehicle averaged $4,121 in June, up from $3,773 in June 2019 but down from $4,142 in May.

Clearing out last year’s models?

Are dealers trying to sell off 2020 models before the 2021 cars and trucks arrive? About two months of downtime at most manufacturing plants due to the pandemic means that dealers don’t have a surplus of vehicles.

In fact, automakers are delaying dozens of new models while they sell last year’s.

Are prices dropping?

Not so much. The average new vehicle sold for $36,332 in June, which was up 3.2% from a year earlier.
